Those who work on modifying cars have great experience in this field, and the modifications are calculated accurately, but in fact experts reported that the installation of large tires causes an increase in the percentage of fuel consumption in the car, and the most important evidence of them is as follows.
1- Rotation resistance
It is one of the main factors that prove the impact of tires on fuel consumption, as the installation of large tires increases the rotation resistance of the tire, and therefore the engine needs more power to overcome that resistance, causing higher fuel consumption.
2- Increase the weight of the tire
A larger tyre is more weight than a smaller tire, so each increase in tyre weight contributes to the overall total weight of the car, which increases the load on the engine and leads to it needing more fuel to propel the car forward.
3- Increased contact with the ground
The size of the tyre causes the floor-contact part of the tire to increase, which increases the rotational resistance of the tire, which increases fuel consumption.
4- Tread tires
The inscriptions and tread of large tires also play an important role in fuel consumption, as the larger the tyre, the larger the size of the tread and the inscriptions on it, and thus the more aggressive it is in the resistance to rotation, which also causes increased fuel drainage.
